Frequently asked questions about the nail hybrid varnish

Dear All! Because we have been receiving from you a number of recurrent questions, we have decided to choose the most frequent ones and answer them in a nutshell. We hope that they will be useful for you.

Hybrid nail varnishes in a nutshell

  • What is the hybrid nail varnish?
The hybrid nail varnish is a special nail varnish cured with UV rays. The outcome is a durable manicure (lasting up to 3 weeks) with beautiful shine or mat, resistant to scratches and chipping. Our nail varnish has a very high pigmentation rate, and the offer includes more than 100 beautiful intensive colors. The hybrid nail varnish requires a special application technique: before painting, the hybrid base coat is used, and the top is placed onto the color layer to secure the paint and improve the lasting effect. Hybrid manicure can be performed at home or at a professional beauty center.
  • What is the difference between the hybrid nail varnish and the hybrid gel varnish?
The hybrid nail varnish is more long lasting, has a more beautiful shine and a better grip to the nail plate. It is easier to apply (as the traditional nail varnish) and very durable (as the nail gel). Moreover, bases contain a protein complex to strengthen and protect your nails.
The gel nail varnish is first of all the effective way to give your nail a strong extension. The gel can be applied on the natural nail plate, the form or tips. The hybrid nail varnish can also be used to extend the nail plate. To do so, you need to use Shape Base – a special extension base coat, but the plate can only be extended by 5 mmm. The gel nail varnish can be more effective; however, as it tends to break it is less durable than the hybrid manicure.
  • Why are Provocater varnishes so thick?
The great advantage of our nail varnishes is that they are extremely thick. This gives them an excellent pigmentation rate and for most of color shades just one layer will give the nail a perfect cover. Moreover, thanks to the varnish thickness, even those who perform hybrid manicure by themselves for the first time will easily handle the application. Thickness prevents the nail varnish from flowing from the nail and from overflowing cuticles.
  • What is the composition of Provocater nail varnish?
The composition of each hybrid nail varnish and of any other Provocater product can be found on the packaging and in “COMPOSITION” section, in the product fact sheet and on the Website provocater.pl.
  • What are the counter-indications for using the hybrid nail varnish?
    • The method should be avoided by individuals who are hypersensitive to nail varnish ingredients. The composition of each nail varnish is displayed on the packaging and included in the product fact sheet on our Website.
    • Hybrid nail varnishes should also be avoided by those who suffer from:
      • onychomycosis
      • nail psoriasis
      • yeasts infections
    • warts and nail nipples
    • inflammatory conditions and infections
    • bacterial contaminations
  • Are Provocater nail varnishes tested on animals?
No. Neither ingredients nor ready nail varnishes have ever been tested on animals.
  • Can Provocater products be combined with other brands, e.g. Semilac or Neonail?
We recommend that Provocater hybrid nail varnishes be combined with base coats and top coats of our brand. Their formulas and features have been designed to provide the best intended effect. We do not know the formulas of used by other brands (Semilac or Neonail), so we cannot ensure an ideal final effect or a trouble-free application if you combine them with our nail varnish.
  • Can Provocater base coat be used with a traditional nail varnish?
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the manicure will stay for several weeks if a traditional nail varnish is applied on our base coat. Instructions for hybrid manicure require that the hybrid nail varnish be applied after the base coat. This will make your manicure stay for longer.
  • Can nails be extended with the hybrid method?
Yes. To do so, you should use a special protein extension base. You will find such product in our store under the name Shape Base. This application helps extend your natural nail plate even by 5 mm!
  • What UV lamp to choose?
Our experience tells us that the LED UV lamp will be the best choice. Why? LED lamps are more viable, provide a better varnish curing effect and are more convenient in use. When choosing your nail lamp, check if it has been equipped with facilitating solutions, e.g. motion sensor (the lamp will switch on when you put your hand inside) and timer (the lamp will precisely count back the action time – 30 or 60 seconds). Check also the lamp power; the weaker the lamp, the longer the curing process. Our range includes the perfect 24W LED/UV lamp, with all necessary amenities.
  • How to handle the UV/LED lamp?

First of all, the LED lamp is an electronic device so it should be handled in line with commonly accepted instructions of use:

    • In transport, power cables must always be disconnected.
    • Remember to check if the cable is not bent or tangled.
    • To prevent any lamp damage, make sure that before use it has not been stored in a cold place. If so, wait until it reaches the room temperature.

    STEP 1
Before manicure soften and offset cuticles from the plate. Shape the nail according to your preferences. Next, use the polishing block or the low gradation file to dull the plate.

    STEP 2
The next step involves degreasing and the application of the base coat. Soak the dust-free cotton pad in Cleaner and wipe the nail plate. Apply Provocater Primer and leave for 15-20 seconds to dry. Primer will make the nail varnish stay longer. Next, apply the base: put on a thin layer and cure it in the lamp (30-60 seconds – UV/LED or 2 minutes – UV).

    STEP 3
It’s time for color! Apply a thin layer of the hybrid nail varnish and cure ir in the lamp (30-60 seconds – UV/LED or 2 minutes – UV). If the color is not as vivid as you wish, you can apply one more layer. Cure again in the lamp. NOTE: Do not wipe! Avoid applying the hybrid nail varnish directly onto the nails, without putting the base coat before.

    STEP 4
Finish: Embed your styling by applying one of our hybrid tops (shiny or mat finish). Cure the top in the lamp. Wipe all the nails with Cleaner. With Provocater Top Shine No Wipe - you do not have to wipe the top layer (the top has no dispersion layer). At the end, mass the oil gently into the cuticles around the nails. It’s done!

  • Air bubbles appear during varnish application.

    Possible causes:

    • Before application the product bottle has been shaken with too much energy
      Our tip:
Remember that the nail plate should be well prepared for hybrid manicure. Carefully dull and degrease the plate with Cleaner, and use Primer next. After this step the nail plate should not be touched (especially with fingertips).
    • The nail varnish layer is too thick
      Out tip:
The nail varnish should be applied in thin layers. Avoid running over nail cuticles. Do not forget to cover the free nail edges to prevent air from penetrating into the nail varnish layer and to avoid unwanted effects of the detergent or water on the varnish grip. If you feel that you are not skillful enough, apply the product on 4 fingers, and finish by applying it on the thumb.
    • The product has been applied on the nail with chaotic strokes
      Our tip:
Products should be applied on the nail with long and gently strokes. We recommend that you wait 5 seconds after the paining before nails are put into the lamp.
    • Fluorescent tubes in the lamp are too weak
      Our tip:
We recommend that fluorescent tubes be replaced with new ones to get the full power of the LED/UV lamp.
  • Hybrid nail varnish shrinks, wrinkles and peels off

    Possibly causes:

    • The nail plate has not been well prepared
      Our tip:
Remember that the nail plate should be well prepared for hybrid manicure. Carefully dull and degrease the plate with Cleaner, and use Primer next. After this step the nail plate should not be touched (especially with fingertips).
    • The nail varnish layer is to thick
      Our tip:
The layer should be as thin as possible. Do not forget to secure the nail edge to prevent air or water from penetration onto the nail varnish. Paint the thumb at the end.
    • The curing time was too short
      Our tip:
Curing times for products should be the same as in the table, point 6. This may also happen when before curing and exposure to the LED/UV lamp rays, the nail varnish has been stored at wrong temperatures or has been exposed to excessive sunrays.
    • Fluorescent tubes in the lamp are too weak
      Our tip:
We recommend that fluorescent tubes be replaced with new ones to get the full power of the LED/UV lamp.

All Provocater brand hybrid nail varnishes and LED/UV curing products, like bases or tops, produce the dispersion layer. The only exception is Top Shine No Wipe, which has no dispersion layer and as such is useful for the application of such powders as Metal Glass, Golden Gloss or Opal.
